91.3 FM WBNY, Buffalo's Original Alternative radio station, will be hosting the second annual WBNY Local Music Awards. We will be including musicians, groups, and organizations from Buffalo, Niagara Falls, Rochester, Fredonia, and anywhere else in the Western New York area. There will be some changes this year, but many things will remain the same including awards for the top 3 in votes for each category, as well as staff picks from 91.3 FM WBNY, BuffaloBlog.com, Artvoice, and more.

There will be a ceremony like last year that will be planned in late August. This will include an announcement of the winners, as well as live performances from local artists. All extra money that is earned by the event will be donated to Thanksgiving Giving – a charity for providing thanksgiving dinners to families who cannot afford them. Awards can be mailed out or picked up at the WBNY studio if winners are not able to attend the ceremony.
Things to write down:
Nomination Deadline: June 1st (all nomination submissions need to be recieved before then to count this year)
Voting: June 15th – August 15th (everyone will be allowed to vote once in each category)
Voting Methods: Facebook Polls or e-mail/traditional mail with new voting form (all the voting information will be available on facebook & wbnylocalshow.com on June 1st)

Nomination Details:
We have changed the way we are accepting nominations this year, they will be through e-mail or traditional mail using a form which can be downloaded at: http://www.wbnylocalshow.com/LocalAwardNominationForm.docx , You may nominate yourself and/or anyone else for an award. We want to include as many bands & people as possible, so feel free to send multiple forms in to include all your friends. The Nomination Form is best displayed in Microsoft Word, if you have any troubles or questions filling it out, simply e-mail us your information and we'll include you as well. There are no limitations on how well known a nomination is, so if you have a small band no one has heard of yet, or a large company everyone raves about, send in your nomination to get your name out there. Keep in mind, if you don't submit a form to us you may not be counted. There are, however, new limitations on nominations this year to make it more fair for everyone:
- Bands can be nominated for up to 3 awards in the Band Awards category
- Individuals can be nominated for up to 3 awards in the Individual Awards category
- Bands & Buisnesses can nominate their members for up to 3 awards in the Individual Awards category
- Businesses can be nominated for up to 2 awards in the Business/Other Awards category
For 'Best New Band', 'EP/Album of the Year', & 'Best Thing to Happen To The WNY Music Scene This Year' anything after nominations closed last year (June 2011) can count. (exceptions can be made, send an e-mail to wbnylocalmusicawards@gmail.com with any questions)

If you have ever performed (full-band or acoustically) at any time on WBNY, let us know if we can include a song from your recording in one of our compilations! You can pick which song, or we'll send you the one we think sounds best before it's put up! We are expecting to release a new one each month :)
PSS: Our staff member (and member of local band Digital Afterlife - facebook.com/digitalafterlife ) is offering free remixes to any of your songs! Feel free to send stems (vocals & instrumental as separate files) or what you have of any song you'd like and Paul will try remixing it! As long as he can put it up on a few sites (like myspace & soundcloud) after you look it over, you're good to go!
